Isn't the rain enough to clean my solar panels?
Unfortunately not to the extent to which you are maximising the efficiency of your solar panel system. Just like your car windscreen needs wipers, your solar panels need help too, to clean off general pollution, traffic dust, dirt, salt residue, bird droppings, mould or the like which has been baked on by the sun. Simply, if vertical windows accumulate dirt and block out light, how much more so will dirt on your solar panels blocking the sunlight affect you? A clean window looks great, but there is no financial return being generated by cleaning a window, unlike cleaning solar panels.
Mother Natures rain is just not enough to clean your dirty solar panels and dirty solar panels are not generating the energy output you may come to expect from your solar panel system.

Dirty Solar Panels Are Costing You Money!

Salt, dirt, dust, grime, lichen, bird droppings and many other environmental pollutants can dramatically reduce the cell’s efficiency; so it’s very important that you establish and maintain a regular and effective solar panel cleaning program.
Doesn’t rain clean them?
You can see in the photo above where the rain water has run through the dirt. Sure, rain will wash some light particles off the surface but, as the rain dries and leaves behind the dirt, pollutants and other solids, it all builds up from the bottom of the frames.
